Daily Life - Jun 2010

Today I have redesigned the Blog for better readability. I am also adding a New dimension to my blog which are nuggets of amazing experiences and encounters in my daily life. Hope this would be liked by all readers.
As for today being a fathers day, My very young child took the challenge to prepare complete meal for me with her own sweet hands without any asistance.. and there could not have been a better treat for me on this day ..
I too salute my father today for being always youthful , inquisitive , vibrant and inspiring today with all my heart..Fathers have to hide their compassion in the veil of disciplined and stoic approach which gives them some disadvantage compared to mothers in recieving the love back but the new age fathers and new age children both share and reach out to make good for this long over due injustice..Happy fathers day..

My Poems - Mother

Maa - Treasures Of Love

My Expressions - Happy New Year

Today is the first anniversary of the Blog and I really thank all the readers who have sent me encouraging comments and notes. I also thank my fellow beings to keep giving me food for thoughts, gems of wisdom and the experiences to enrich my own repertoir of hopes & dreams.

The new year opening is again abuzz with the rustle of optimism and bon homie. The Greetings and best wishes, determinations and resolutions are illuminating the hearts once again.

As we advance our journey with renewed vigour, let us make pledge to value each of family member, friend, colloegue & neighbour. Each of them have a mission and a role to play in our life.

Many times we treat them in an unjust manner or ignore their contributions in our life and bear grudges. Such grudges become the roots of unhappiness in our own heart. Let us rewind, relook, rejuvenate the strained bonds.

Wish You a very peaceful, happy and fulfilling new year with stupendous successes.

My Expressions - I, Me and Myself

I, Me & Myself

  • We are the hero of our Life story and thus look at the storyline from our standpoint only.
  • We pray , act and strive for our happiness primarily
  • Many a times we feel our prayers are not answered , Our efforts do not fructify.
  • We view things in terms of extremities - Good- Bad, Happy-Sad, Day-Night, Light- Dark,Hope-Despair, Right - wrong, Me-Others
  • Just as a pendulams build tension while travelling to one side gather momentum to swing to the other side after touching the extreme & thus keep Oscillating.. we are no different..
  • In reality life is made up of myriad subtle shades & nuances of what lies in between these extremes.
  • and thus many of us in pursuit of a distant goal make the journey miserable..
  • For God everyone is Hero, we think for ourselves but he thinks for all..
  • When we are awakened to this , we are no longer self centered..Being self centered does not fit in the design of Universe..
  • Universe is made up of a rhythm of mutual co-existence..a constant cycle of synthesis and annihilation..
  • The source of contentment and happiness is to find this rhythm..

My Expressions- Constructive Dialogue

Constructive Dialogue
  • A discussion leads to logical & workable solutions of most problems ...
  • Some people do not discuss even when they are encouraged to..
  • Some people only tell, they do not listen or discuss..
  • Unwillingness to discuss with an open mind indicate underlying Fears and Insecurities..
  • Unwillingness to discuss could also be intended bravado...
  • Arrogant attitudes / Devious comments are detrimental to constructive dialogue...
  • A conclusion imposed on the other person in a one sided discussion is often unproductive or counterproductive while it may deliver a temporary sense of triumph...
  • Rigid attitudes do not foster constructive dialogues...flexibilities do..
  • Peaceful, tolerant and colloborative spirit matters..and so does mutual respect
  • Constructive dialogue should not be delayed
  • Talk it out... in and out and WIN-WIN...

My Poems - Collage of Life

Collage of Life : On the canvas of life,
I made a collage,
Of my desires and dreams,
From heart and mind,
And soul,

The scenes of joy & sorrows,
Hopes and despair,
Melancholy and laughter,
Appeared frame after frame,

There were images I did not make,
But yet appeared,
From the lives of the people,
Whose destiny intertwined with mine,

The imprints of time , space and beyond,
Casted the silhouettes,
Rendering the meanings ,
Which would only be known later,
When the dots would finally connect

And so I continue adding color,
and watch others do the same,
the picture keeps changing,
with its myriads looks every time,

And this collage transcends,
Many lifetimes,
As the journey continues till,
Eternity…

My Expressions- Appreciation , Encouragement & Gratitude

My Expressions- Appreciation , Encouragement & Gratitude
Appreciation and encouragement has the power to unleash the unlimited potential latent with in all of us - potential to fill every moment of life with joy and true happiness. Appreciation from heart brings out the best of a person and encourages him to do better with a sense of fulfillment. Criticism and sarcasm leads to resentment and bitterness and leaves behind a rancour that seeths with in to give rise to negative tendencies.
Each of us are unique human beings with our unique traits, habits, and behaviours. Many a times we do not like people who are not like us which is fine. But the moment this dislike start turning into resentment and criticism, it sets in seemingly irreversile self destruction on account of somebody else. We must remember that we are responsible for our own self and so are others. Breeding any negetaive emotions with in us is like holding coalfire in hand which burns nobody but us. It also rarely results in change in others.
Instead, positive pursuasion makes people accept the limitations and appreciation makes it easier for them to evolve. So please appreciate, encourage and express copius gratitude to all in your life and see your life change...there are many people fulfillng some purpose in your life and all these like people are not bound to have the same nature as yours by the law of the universe..
Forgive if you can, forgive even if you cannot..because nobody likes a complaining person..
It is difficult but CERTAINLY POSSIBLE..

My Expressions - Global Warming and Economic Melt Down

My Expressions - Global Warming and Economic Melt Down

All Scientific, economic and political pursuits of mankind in the last few decades had been devastitingly directed towards consumption of the vast resoureces nature provided us. Consumption became the focal point of the development and the

economic activity centered around the converting natural resources into finished products at profits which surged as the consumption grew. To sustain growths in profits, the best brains of the world devised various instruments to fuel up consumption further. Fundamentals were compromised - Fundamentals of Life, eqaulity and all round growth. People & organisations grew on the artificial purchasing powers with compromised and camouflaged collaterals. Hypes were sustained until the faultlines had tectonic shifts to engulf the whole world into and unprecendented crisis - The crisis of resources...

Each unit of consumption produces 10 times of waste which go unnoticed. ..this waste is remains inefficiently managed or unmanaged..the wastages in the form harmful emissions, Toxic chemicals & Non biodegradable by products derail the ecosystem which jerks and reacts with vanishing greenlands, Icecovers and extreme weather changes.

Todays both Eco system and Economic systems are in turmoil. Both are results of ravaging human tendencies of Greed and selfishness. The modern day euphemism for greed is growth and for selfishness is competetiveness, yet the phraseology cannot hide the casuses being created and consequences being manifested..

What is needed to save the earth, save the mankind and save the humanity before we are on the point of no return..to nourish, preserve and enhance the ecosystem..the natural order ....

My Expressions - Leadership

Expressions - Leadership

Leadership is perhaps one of the most enigmatic
subject. Many people try to become good leaders
but very few succeed in acquiring a real stature.

In Management terms there are different nuances of
leadership namely Autocratic, Participative ,
Democratic ,Consultative or Situational. Most these
theories barely explain the charisma or pull a leader
create..

Kennedy, Barrack Obama, Martin Luther king,
Mahatma Gandhi, Jack Welch ....the list is endless..
What made them great leaders?

A leader inspire the followers to believe in
their dreams ...A true leader assure the followers of
his unflinching support come what may without
betraying their trust..A leader does what
is right...A leader does not discourage sincere hearts
A leader does not resort to superficial opportunism
or cowardice...A leader pushes his followers to
enable them to realize their potential rather
than making them handicapped and dependent...

Leaders have to be careful who they side with,
befriend or patronise.... Most leaders not vigilant in
this respectvlose their credibility ..Leaders lacking in
compassion are renounced by their followers.

Leadership is position of responsibility
rather than authority... Leaders must be aware
that they would be circled by the cunning people
to curry favor ... Such cunning people collude and
distance the sincere and genuine people from him...
In such situation the subtly influence the ego needs
of the leader to make him arrogant...
This is the start of decline of actual leadership..

On the contrary , a true leader never encourage
wrong practices despite all criticism and never
fail to insist on highest standards...

Compassion, Humility, Responsibility and Capability
makes a Leader ....

A Genuine and conscientious Leader.....

My Favourite songs - Imagine

My Favourite songs - Imagine

.....Imagine all the people living life in peace...You may say i am a dreamer, but not the only one...

On October 9th, Lennon's life was celebrated in a brief ceremony, called Imagine All the People, at the United Nations. After being welcomed to the UN — "this House of Peace" — by Marcella Pérez de Cuéllar, the wife of UN secretary general Javier Pérez de Cuéllar, Yoko Ono read a prepared statement, played a tape recording of Lennon, in which he urged the world to recognize "the choice we have in front of us: war or peace" and then broadcast the song "Imagine" over more than 1000 radio stations in 130 countries to an audience of approximately a billion listeners

My Favourite songs - One Moment in Time

My Favourite songs - One Moment in Time

Whitney Houston's unforgettable song....A day to give , the best of me...I am only one but not alone, My finest day is yet unknown..Give me one moment in time.....and all my dreams are a heartbeat away and the answers are all upto me..

What more can be said for the fighting spirit and moments of Glory

My Favourite songs-Sandstorm

My Favourite songs-Sandstorm

Sandstorm is a  song with powerful beats with Arabian touch and can actually make you feel standing in the middle of a raging sandstorm. The Lyrics .. fly with the clouds, from the winds, in the desert there is sandstorm,...no where to run or to hide from the fury of the sandstorm..can well apply to the dunes of life as well..

MY FAVOURITE SONGS-HEAL THE WORLD

An excellent composition on world peace sending out the appeal to all to contribute to the humatarian bonding and propogate freindship and fraternity in a borderless world forever to come.

My Favourite songs - Another Day in Paradise

My Favourite songs - Another Day in Paradise

Phil Collins could not have been better. Besides other favourites like Groovy Kind of love, Easy Lovers, In this song Phil Collins  brings  out  the insensitivity that we all carry without regrets living in our own paradises what is called in Michael Jackson's words - WHO AM I , To be Blind , Pretending not to see their needs"... The songs depicts the strongly held emotions and scorn towards the apathy so common today..

My Favourite songs - Vincent

My Favourite songs- Vincent

Vincent from Don Mclean is a wonderful tribute to the famous painter Vincent Von Gogh. The fusion of Lyrics, Music and the Paintings of Vincent Von Gogh is Breathtaking. The paintings are nostalgic and have the power to transport you in  the realm of Tranquility.

WhiZ Hearts-Galileo Galilei

Galileo Galilei
WhiZHeart Estimated IQ>185

Born: February 15, 1564
Death: January 8, 1642

Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa, Italy on February 15, 1564. He was the oldest of seven children. His father was a musician and wool trader, who wanted his son to study medicine as there was more money in medicine. At age eleven, Galileo was sent off to study in a Jesuit monastery. At age twenty, Galileo noticed a lamp swinging overhead while he was in a cathedral. Curious to find out how long it took the lamp to swing back and forth, he used his pulse to time large and small swings. Galileo discovered something that no one else had ever realized: the period of each swing was exactly the same. The law of the pendulum, which would eventually be used to regulate clocks, made Galileo Galilei instantly famous.Galileo was a devout Catholic who seriously considered pursuing a career in the priesthood. Instead, at his father's urging, he enrolled at the University of Pisa to study medicine, but switched to mathematics. He was appointed the chair of mathematics in 1589. In 1592 he moved to the University of Padua, teaching in the fields of mathematics, geometry, and astronomy until 1610. Among other things, Galileo has been called:

 ·  The father of science ·  The father of modern physics ·    The father of modern astronomy

·         The father of observational science

Some of Galileo's most significant work was in the field of kinematics, identifying that the total distance covered is proportional to the square of the time. He also identified the parabola as the ideal trajectory for uniformly accelerated motion in a plane. In 1608, the telescope was invented in the Netherlands. Over the next year, Galileo had heard about it and crafted his own improvements. With the improved telescope, he was able to observe the heavens more closely than ever before and identified three of Jupiter's moons. This, along with observing the phases of Venus, provided support for the Copernican heliocentric model of the universe over Ptolemy's geocentric model. In addition, he made many other significant observations. He was the first to observe sunspots, the rings of Saturn and lunar mountains and craters. Galileo's Imprisonment sentence had three parts:

·         He was required to recant his heliocentric views

·         He was imprisoned (though this later got commuted to house arrest at his estate near Florence)

·         His Dialogue was banned, and all other works written by him were forbidden, though this latter part was not enforced.

While under house arrest, Galileo wrote Two New Sciences, which outlined his earlier work in kinematics and the strength of materials.Galileo died of natural causes in 1642, after having gone blind. He was reburied at Santa Croce, sacred ground, in 1737.

WhiZ Hearts-Bobby Fischer

Bobby Fischer

WhiZ Hearts : Estimated IQ >187

Robert James Fischer was born on 9 March 1943 in Chicago.

Bobby Fischer started playing chess at 6, and from a very young age he attended the Brooklyn Chess Club and was coached by Carmine Nigro, the club's president.

Fischer was so preoccupied by chess that his mother, Regina, took him to the Children's Psychiatric Division of the Brooklyn Jewish Hospital; but the doctor there, Harold Kline told Mrs. Fischer he thought there were worse preoccupations and Bobby Fischer's zest for the game continued unabated.

In 1955, Fischer joined the Manhattan Chess Club and then the Hawthorne Chess Club where he was mentored by Jack Collins.

In July 1956, Bobby Fischer won the US junior championship - the youngest player to do so.

At 14 years and 9 months Fischer became US Champion, a title he was to gain eight times.

As his playing continued to thrive so did his personal life grow more difficult. He fell out with his mother and his disagreements with tournament organizers were escalating.

In the mid-1960s, Fischer became involved with a sect called the Worldwide Church of G-d, which led him to refuse to play during the sect's Sabbath.

Fischer's run-up to the World Championship against Spassky in Rejkavik, Iceland in 1972 was extraordinary. In the Candidates quarter-final Fischer whitewashed Mark Taimanov 6-0 and then repeated the feat with a 6-0 victory in the semi-finals against Bent Larsen. To polish it off Bobby Fischer defeated former world champion Tigran Petrosian in the Candidates Final with five wins, three draws, and just one loss.

Against the backdrop of the Cold War Fischer defeated Soviet Boris Spassky in what became known as the "chess match of the century". During the match Fischer complained about the site, the prize fund, the organizers, FIDE; even to the extent of the match having to be postponed.

Fischer lost the first game and forfeited the second and then refused to play the third on the stage and insisted on playing in an ill-furnished back-room - Spassky lost the game and eventually the match.

But then Fischer withdrew from competition, and three years later, the World Chess Federation stripped him of his title for failing to defend it against Anatoly Karpov.

Since then, apart from a bizarre Fischer-Spassky rematch in Yugoslavia in 1992, which Fischer won 10-5 with 15 draws that provoked the wrath of the US government as it defied their sanctions against Yugoslavia, Fischer has not actively played chess (unless as some people including Nigel Short have posited - on the internet).

Fischer disappeared. He apparently spent several years in central Europe before moving to Tokyo.

Totally reclusive he emerged only to utter anti-Semitic rants in radio interviews and his support for the 11 September 2001 attacks on the US.

Fischer said of 'September 11' on a radio show in the Philippines: "This is all wonderful news. It is time to finish off the US once and for all."

His anti-semitism was nothing new, although his mother was Jewish. In 1962 Fischer was quoted as saying: "There are too many Jews in chess. They seem to have taken away the class from the game. They don't seem to dress so nicely, you know. That's what I don't like."

In 1984, Fischer wrote an open letter to the Encyclopedia Judaica, asking that his entry be removed, saying: "try to promote your religion on its own merits - if indeed it has any."

In 2004, Japan arrested Bobby Fischer, wanted by the US for breaking international sanctions (his Yugoslavia re-match with Spassky).

Fischer was detained at Tokyo's Narita airport, apparently with an invalid passport.

Eventually Bobby Fischer was released by the Japanese and taken in by Iceland. Bobby Fischer News contains an update on Bobby Fischer's departure to Iceland.

There have been recent disclosures about Fischer's background, with the release of FBI files on Fischer's mother Regina. The documents seem to suggest that Fischer's actual father was a Jewish man, Dr Paul Felix Nemenyi, and not as had been assumed a German biophysicist named Gerhardt.

It seems the most savoury thing to do is to end up by concentrating on Fischer's great chess skills. Garry Kasparov states in his foreword to Agur's "Fischer - his Approach to Chess":

"Fischer's achievement is unsurpassed - the gap between him and his rivals was the widest there ever was between a World Champion and the other top-ranking players at the time. He was some 10-15 years ahead of his time in his preparation and understanding."

At his peak, Bobby Fischer was the strongest chess player of all time.

In January 2008, Bobby Fischer died after suffering from a long-term illness.
