A super hit of 1980's and one of my most favorite song, 'Lady' was written by Lionel Richie and performed by Kenny Rogers. After 'Island in the streams' superb success, 'Lady' took Kenny Rogers to the peaks of popularity and this song was acclaimed to be most romantic song of the times.
One of my most favorite songs that always lift the spirits. A song filled with deep gratitude to our mentor!!
Sensei is new age, progressive, compassionate and ever inspiring. Sensei is a role model to live a life for helping others and bring them happiness. Sensei is about winning in life - an eternal victory!
Beautiful lyrics bringing about the longing in every human heart to have a world free of mystery, unhappiness, violence, greed, war, and grief: utopian though but not impossible ..
I like the music of both Rock-on 1 and Rock-on 2 for their lovely lyrics, lively music and magical performance!! Here is one of my favorite:
"Buy Me a Rose" song is recorded by American country music artist Kenny Rogers. It became number one in Billboard hot country singles charts making Kenny Rogers the oldest number one hit singer at the age of 61.
The song beautifully narrates how futile material gifts from a husband to wife could be and how his simple gestures can win her heart.
LYRICS
He works hard to give her all he thinks she wants A three car garage, her own credit cards He pulls in late to wake her up with a kiss good night If he could only read her mind, she'd say:
Buy me a rose, call me from work Open a door for me, what would it hurt Show me you love me by the look in your eyes These are the little things I need the most in my life
Now the days have grown to years of feeling all alone And she can't help but wonder what she's doing wrong Cause lately she'd try anything to turn his head Would it make a difference if she said:
Buy me a rose, call me from work Open a door for me, what would it hurt Show me you love me by the look in your eyes These are the little things I need the most in my life
And the more that he lives the less that he tries To show her the love that he hold inside And the more that she gives the more that he sees This is a story of you and me
So I bought you a rose on the way home from work Opened the door to a heart that I hurt And I hope you notice this look in my eyes Cause I'm gonna make things right I'm gonna hold you tonight Do all those little things For the rest of your life.
An American soul and R&B singer, Benjamin Earl King (September 28, 1938 – April 30, 2015), was the singer and composer of "Stand by Me". A US Top 10 hit, both in 1961 and later in 1986, a number one hit in the UK in 1987, and no. 25 on the RIAA's list of Songs of the Century, this song has been performed, recorded and released by many singers including Sir John Lennon.
This song has a soulful and piercing voice filling each word with an 'ask' - a natural craving of the loving hearts to lean on each other and draw strength.
Tracy Chapman, four times Grammy winner made her debut with this wonderful song, that remains one of my favourite till date. Her soulful voice sets a sensitive, thoughtful, pensive and melancholic backdrop and guides the listeners imagination to a vivid visualisation of the storyline.
"Fast Car" climbed on the US charts soon after her performance at the televised Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute concert in June 1988; it became a number 6 pop hit on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending August 27, 1988.
Lyrics
Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
You got a fast car I want a ticket to anywhere Maybe we make a deal Maybe together we can get somewhere Anyplace is better Starting from zero got nothing to lose Maybe we'll make something Me, myself I got nothing to prove
You got a fast car I got a plan to get us out of here I been working at the convenience store Managed to save just a little bit of money Won't have to drive too far Just 'cross the border and into the city You and I can both get jobs And finally see what it means to be living
You see my old man's got a problem He live with the bottle that's the way it is He says his body's too old for working His body's too young to look like his My mama went off and left him She wanted more from life than he could give I said somebody's got to take care of him So I quit school and that's what I did
You got a fast car Is it fast enough so we can fly away We gotta make a decision Leave tonight or live and die this way
So remember we were driving, driving in your car Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder I had a feeling that I belonged I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
You got a fast car We go cruising to entertain ourselves You still ain't got a job I work in a market as a checkout girl I know things will get better You'll find work and I'll get promoted We'll move out of the shelter Buy a bigger house and live in the suburbs
I remember we were driving, driving in your car Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder I had a feeling that I belonged I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
You got a fast car I got a job that pays all our bills You stay out drinking late at the bar See more of your friends than you do of your kids I'd always hoped for better Thought maybe together you and me would find it I got no plans I ain't going nowhere So take your fast car and keep on driving
I remember we were driving, driving in your car Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder I had a feeling that I belonged I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
You got a fast car But is it fast enough so you can fly away You gotta make a decision Leave tonight or live and die this way
In a career spanning over 55 years and over 30 albums, Joan Baez is still touring and still mesmerizing audiences all over the world. Her social activism has provoked and inspired, encouraging many other performers who followed to stand up for their beliefs.
Baez’s ‘We Shall Overcome’ became prominent during the Civil Rights Movement in the 60’s; she marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and performed the song at rallies. 500 miles is another soulful performance from her with keen sensitivity enveloping every beat and note.
In addition to supporting civil rights as an artist and worker, Baez participated in university free-speech efforts led by students and the antiwar movement, calling for an end to the conflict in Vietnam. Beginning in 1964, she would refuse to pay part of her taxes to protest U.S. military spending for a decade.
She was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 2007.
If you miss the train I'm on, You will know that I am gone, You can hear the whistle blow, a hundred miles. A hundred miles, a hundred miles, A hundred miles, a hundred miles. You can hear the whistle blow, a hundred miles.
Lord, I'm one, Lord I'm two Lord, I'm three, Lord I'm four, Lord, I'm five hundred miles away from home. Not a shirt on my back, Not a penny to my name, Lord, I can't go back home this away. This away, this away, this away, this away. Lord, I can't go back home, this away.
If you miss the train I'm on, you will know that I am gone, You can hear the whistle blow, a hundred miles. A hundred miles, a hundred miles, A hundred miles, a hundred miles. You can hear the whistle blow, a hundred miles.
Pink Floyd ,a rock band from London England was formed in 1965 by Nick Mason, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright and Roger Waters. In 1979 they released “Another Brick In the Wall Part 2.” which has been a huge success across the world. One of my all time favourites, the songs of Pink Floyd have an intense power to stir the impressions we keep layering our psyche with. The music, the lyrics and the visuals have an intellectual blend creating a captivating, thoughtful, pensive and powerful experience. In an interview, Roger Waters explains the essence of the concept of The Wall. The "wall" is the self-isolating barrier we build over the course of our lives, and the "bricks in the wall" are the people and events that turn us inward and away from others.”
Daddy's flown across the ocean
Leaving just a memory
Snapshot in the family album
Daddy what else did you leave for me?
Daddy, what'd'ja leave behind for me?!?
All in all it was just a brick in the wall.
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.
"You! Yes, you! Stand still laddy!
Another Brick in the Wall Lyrics - Part 2
(Waters) 3:56
We don't need no educationÂ
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
"Wrong, Do it again!"
"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you
have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"
"You! Yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddy!"
[Sound of many TV's coming on, all on different channels]
"The Bulls are already out there"
Pink: "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrgh!"
"This Roman Meal bakery thought you'd like to know."
I don't need no arms around me
And I dont need no drugs to calm me.
I have seen the writing on the wall.
Don't think I need anything at all.
No! Don't think I'll need anything at all.
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.
All in all you were all just bricks in the wall.
Baby, when I met you there was peace unknown I set out to get you with a fine tooth comb I was soft inside, there was somethin' going on You do something to me that I can't explain Hold me closer and I feel no pain Every beat of my heart We got somethin' goin' on Tender love is blind It requires a dedication All this love we feel Needs no conversation We ride it together, ah-ah Makin' love with each other, ah-ah
Islands in the stream That is what we are No one in-between How can we be wrong Sail away with me to another world And we rely on each other, ah-ah From one lover to another, ah-ah
I can't live without you if the love was gone Everything is nothin' if you got no one And you did walk in tonight Slowly losing sight of the real thing
But that won't happen to us and we got no doubt Too deep in love and we got no way out And the message is clear This could be the year for the real thing
No more will you cry Baby, I will hurt you never We start and end as one, in love forever We can ride it together, ah-ah Makin' love with each other, ah-ah Islands in the stream That is what we are No one in-between How can we be wrong Sail away with me to another world And we rely on each other, ah-ah From one lover to another, ah-ah
Sail away Oh, come sail away with me
Islands in the stream That is what we are No one in-between How can we be wrong Sail away with me to another world And we rely on each other, ah-ah From one lover to another, ah-ah
Islands in the stream That is what we are No one in-between How can we be wrong Sail away with me to another world And we rely on each other, ah-ah From one lover to another, ah-ah

Starting the new year with one of my favorite song from Neil Diamond:For someone who showed me what a little bit of love can do!!
I came with a little bit of sorrow
Was maybe a bit too sad But one day rolled into tomorrow And you gave me the best you had That's how we started together And how together we're gonna stay
You taught me a little 'bout good times I fought through a little bit of rain You brought me a part of your sunshine You took in the heart of my pain It wasn't supposed to happen But then you happened to come my way
Every night, every day Every word that you say made it so Every thought that I had Said I ought to be glad, now I know
You showed what a little bit of love can do You opened my eyes and a light came through Took me to a place that I never knew Goodbye to my little bit of something blue
You came and you found me wanting And I'm saying that I'm in your debt Some days were a little bit daunting Some days I'd rather forget You changed my life for the better And I know I'd better be good to you
Every night, every day Every word that you say made it so Every thought that I had Said I ought to be glad, now I know
You showed what a little bit of love can do You opened my eyes and a light came through Took me to a place that I never knew So long to my little bit of something blue
It wasn't supposed to happen But then you happened to come my way
Every night, every day Every word that you say made it so Every thought that I had Said I ought to be glad. Now I know
You showed what a little bit of love can do You opened my eyes and a light came through Took me to a place that I never knew Goodbye to my little bit of something blue

With the soul stirring music of Hemant Kumar from an Indian Movie “Jaagriti” (1954) this song every time I listen to it, makes the child in me come alive ..
not in the sense of a forlorn childhood and craving for the careless times
but in the sense of the very soft, innate element of purity and virtue we are all born with ...
of the bewilderment of a growing child seeing the absurdities of the world run by adults..
of seeing the inhuman behavior of humans driven by doubt, greed, anger ...
of the sad, sullen yet hope-filled urge every child has when he sees ..
Hate , envy and jealousy all around instead of Love..
Children are the best teachers for human behavior..
.....Imagine all the people living life in peace...You may say i am a dreamer, but not the only one...
On October 9th, Lennon's life was celebrated in a brief ceremony, called Imagine All the People, at the United Nations. After being welcomed to the UN — "this House of Peace" — by Marcella Pérez de Cuéllar, the wife of UN secretary general Javier Pérez de Cuéllar, Yoko Ono read a prepared statement, played a tape recording of Lennon, in which he urged the world to recognize "the choice we have in front of us: war or peace" and then broadcast the song "Imagine" over more than 1000 radio stations in 130 countries to an audience of approximately a billion listeners
Whitney Houston's unforgettable song....A day to give , the best of me...I am only one but not alone, My finest day is yet unknown..Give me one moment in time.....and all my dreams are a heartbeat away and the answers are all upto me..
What more can be said for the fighting spirit and moments of Glory
